Director of Preconstruction - Mission Critical

We're partnering with a well-known national construction firm specializing in electrical and mission-critical projects. They're looking for an experienced Director of Preconstruction to lead their preconstruction efforts for mission-critical facilities in the San Antonio market.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected national contractor with a strong reputation in the mission-critical sector and play a leadership role in shaping complex, high-stakes projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all preconstruction activities for mission-critical projects including data centers, healthcare facilities, and other electrical/mission-critical builds
• Oversee estimating, budgeting, and value engineering efforts
• Develop conceptual and detailed cost estimates for large-scale mission-critical projects
• Lead preconstruction teams and mentor estimators and project engineers
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and operations teams throughout preconstruction
• Evaluate constructability, risk, and scheduling during design phases
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and trade partners
• Support business development efforts and participate in client presentations
• Ensure accuracy and quality of estimates and preconstruction deliverables
• Drive continuous improvement in preconstruction processes and systems

Requirements

Essential:

• 10+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or related roles
• Proven experience with mission-critical projects (data centers, electrical infrastructure, healthcare, etc.)
• Strong understanding of electrical and MEP systems in mission-critical environments
• Experience leading preconstruction teams
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with estimating software (Sage, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, etc.)
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)

Desirable:

• Experience with national contractors or large-scale mission-critical work
• Established relationships with subcontractors and trade partners
• Knowledge of data center construction and operational requirements
• LEED or other relevant certifications
• Experience with design-build project delivery
